Angus Lane
Angus has over 30 years as a primary producer. He owned 2 farms on the Darling Downs at Jandowae, Queensland.
In the early 1980's Angus started ABC interviewing on the Darling Downs and showring announcing. His goal however was to become a Royal Showring Announcer. In August 1992 he had the honour of being appointed Chief Announcer of Brisbane Royal Show and was appointed Announcer of Sydney Royal Easter Show in 1994.
With the support of his wife Vicki, Angus is on the road for ten months a year, covering many provincial shows and nearly all the Royal Shows in the capital cities. They see their jobs as helping to educate city people about life on the land.
Queensland Father of the year 2002–3
He was awarded the Henry Palaszczuk Minister's Recognition for Outstanding Contribution to Rural Communities for Services to Rural and Regional Queensland.
In 2002 and 2006 Angus was an Ambassador for the "Year of the Outback". He was also ambassador for the Beef Expos in Rockhampton, from 1991 – 2006.
Angus & Vicki are the only full time professional Showring Announcer team in Australia, announcing at Royal Shows, Agricultural Shows, in Queensland, New South Wales, Western Australia, ACT, Victoria and Northern Territory, Field Days, Beef & Horse Expos, Showjumping events, Australasian Police Games, Charity Fun Raisers, International Cricket Matches, Football Games, Highland Dancing Competitions, Gymkhanas, Rodeos, Heavy Horse Days, Pony Clubs, and many other functions.
Angus was chosen to be an Ambassador for the Australian Equine Alliance because of his standing within the rural community, his exposure to the wider Australian audience through his role with all the Shows and for the respect and esteem that he is held by all.
