2. Who is covered by this policy?

Personal accident and liability insurance covers any AEA member aged between 4 & 70 (may be extended) who satisfies the conditions of the policy.

3. Who is the underwriter of this policy?

5. Is the AEA an insurance agent?

No. The AEA has responded to the need for suitable public liability and personal accident insurance (as identified in our industry meetings in 2002), by offering these policies through our insurance broker.

6. What happens if I have an existing policy?

We would recommend you talk to your club. Not all policies are the same.

7. Who owns the policy?

The policy is owned by the Australian Equine Alliance Pty Ltd (AEA), associations and clubs and the members of the clubs and/or associations which have signed the Participation Agreement.

9. Do I need to be a member of a recognised Association/Club to become a member of the AEA?

If you are a current financial member of any of the recognised equine association/clubs, all we require is that you quote your membership number and the name of the association/club on your application.

10. What if my association/club is not an Alliance Member of the AEA. Can I still apply for membership to the AEA?

Yes. We will accept your application for membership to the AEA. We are encouraging your association to join the AEA.

11. am not a member of any association/club. Can I still join the AEA?

Yes. However, we encourage you to join the local association/club of your choice. We can advise you on what associations/clubs are in your local area.

12. Do I receive a separate individual insurance policy?

Your membership card to the AEA is your 'insurance policy' as detailed on the AEA site and is your evidence that you have insurance cover as detailed on that site. Your membership number with the AEA is in fact your individual insurance policy number and must be quoted at all times when contacting the AEA.

13. I am a member of a jousting association, can I join the AEA?

Jousting is included under the Gold Card level of cover.

14. It states that I will be covered for public liability and personal accident insurance 'whenever and where ever in Australia' when I am riding a horse. Does that mean my own horse and any horse?

It means ANY horse, as this policy is to the individual rider and 'travels, i.e. is portable' with the individual rider.

15. Is there a discounted fee for under 18 year olds?

Yes. Full year Youth membership fees are: White Card $54, Green Card $80 and Gold Card $110.

16. What period of time do my membership fees cover?

Your membership period commences from the date of joining and expires at 4pm on 31 December of the same year. It is up for renewal on 1 January each year in line with the insurance policy.

No. You are NOT covered while undertaking a business activity.
