Guy McLean
Guy McLean is an accomplished, self taught, thinking horseman as well as 2 time Australian Bush Poetry Champion.
Through a complete love of horses and a burning desire to "find better ways" of building relationships with horses, not having to use force, instead, 'asking' them to do the job as a partner, Guy has developed his own training methods, trying something new every day as a new personality poses new problems to work through.
Guy's ultimate goal is to find a method that makes the most sense to the horse.
Guy believes that horses have been his greatest teacher.
For 5 years now, crowds have sat back, laughed and cried along with Guy while he takes them on a journey through his heartfelt renditions of Banjo Paterson to hilarious modern poems and poetry of his own, all held together with Guy's quick wit and funloving crowd interaction, on top his horse Nugget.
The other horses come into play in Guy's Horsemanship demos where 1,2 or 3 horse act are performed with all horses bridleless and saddleless working together, at liberty which helps Guy demonstrate his horsemanship methods that are currently being sought after all over Australia.
Guy and his team perform all over Australia in places such as The Sydney 2000/2001/2002 Royal Easter Show, where he performs daily, incorporating horsemanship, whip-cracking and poetry. In his night performances Guy entertained 24,000 people, in the Main Arena, over 14 days, performing Poetry in Motion, cantering Nugget (bridleless and saddleless) while reciting and portraying a horseman's adventure or a specially written show poem.
Other major performances include The Ekka, performing nightly to crowds of up to 8000 people, The Equitana Asia Pacific 1999/2001/200212003 where, by day, he was one of the most sought after clinicians and by night he was entertaining, opening the "Mane Event" and The Corryong Man From Snowy River Festival, entertaining and showing his skills to some amazing horsemen in theil own right.
Guy and Nugget had the prestigious honour of being the first horse and rider to grace the halls and walkways of the Longreach Hall of Fame in person!
Guy was an obvious choice as an Ambassador for the AEA and we are proud to be associated with him.
